By: The Arc Volusia "We look forward to the walk every year," said David James, The Arc Volusia's CEO. "It's always great to get our families together for this fun event that helps educate the community about Down syndrome," he added. Registration for the event is $10, and includes lunch, water all day, games, and activities. There will be approximately 300 feet of vendor space, with an assortment of arts, crafts, candles, jewelry, bags and other items for sale. Guests may patronize the vendors without paying an entry fee. The schedule for the day includes; 9am registration, games and activities, 10am opening ceremony, 11am one-mile walk, and an 11:30am lunch. The Arc Volusia is a nonprofit organization founded in 1962 by parents who were concerned about their children with disabilities. Fifty three years later, the Arc continues to lead the way in promoting awareness of the strengths and achievements of Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), We currently serve 230 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities – helping them develop life skills, increase their independence, and creating opportunities for them to earn a paycheck.
