Megadyne Celebrates 30 Years Strong

Megadyne was incorporated in April of 1985 to facilitate the research and development of what is now known in the healthcare industry as the E-Z Clean® electrosurgical tip.  It was designed to address a common problem experienced by all surgeons, the inconvenience of stopping during surgical procedures to clean the eschar build-up off of stainless steel electrodes.  The problem was not only frustrating to surgeons and scrub nurses, but created costly delays and disrupted surgical procedures.  In 1985, Dr. G. Marsden Blanch, a noted ENT surgeon developed a way to minimize the nuisance of eschar buildup on electrosurgery tools during surgery.  With the help of Dr. Blanch and a team of biomedical engineers, Megadyne then developed a high-tech coating process which, when applied to stainless steel electrodes, makes them eschar-resistant and easy to clean during surgery.  Since then, E-Z Clean has changed the standard of care in the operating room.

-       Reusable Laparoscopic Indicator Shaft ® minimizes the risk of electrosurgical burns from stray current by providing a visible indicator of when the shaft is no longer safe to use.
