BEDFORD, Pa. - Oct. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Mary Boore embraced “The Great Outdoors” theme during Active Aging Week at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford senior living community.

This year, the International Council on Active Aging encouraged seniors to “Live Your Adventure” throughout Active Aging Week, which ran from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3. Colonial Courtyard at Bedford had a week of activities scheduled with different themes each day.

On Oct. 1, the 86-year-old Boore joined Colonial Courtyard at Bedford Environmental Service Director J.R. Keifer for an afternoon of fishing at a privately-owned pond in Clearville. The community dog, Maci, also was part of the trip.

“Mary always dreamed of being able to go fishing. It was a special day when she and J.R. had a great afternoon of catching and releasing a dozen fish that Mary caught,” said Nanette Bankes, Activities Coordinator at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. “It was a cold day and sprinkling outside, but it didn’t stop the fish from biting, and Mary enjoyed herself. This is what living your adventure is all about.”

Boore is a Bedford native who has resided at Colonial Courtyard of Bedford for three years.
