India has selected new bowlers for this South Africa tour

India did not go for any of their fastest bowlers - UmeshYadav, Varun Aaron or Ishant Sharma - for the T20 internationals, selecting the medium pace proffered by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Aravind, as well as Stuart Binny.
 
MUMBAI, India - Oct. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Indian Selection committee has announced the squads for the forthcoming One-Day International and Twenty20 series against South Africa, with each introducing an uncapped player. In the selection for the leading three One Day International matches, there is a first call for all-rounder Gurkeerat Singh Mann, whereas left-arm seam-bowler Sreenath Aravind has been selected for the three T20 matches.

The players absent from the full-strength ODI team that had toured Bangladesh were all-rounderRavindraJadejaas well asseamer Dhawal Kulkarni. Gurkeerat, who bowls off spin, took Jadeja'splace in the team while leg spinner Amit Mishra came in in the place of Kulkarni.

According to latest Indian cricket news, Gurkeerat, 25, had two extraordinarytrips for India Ateam in recent times. He had taken 2 for 42 and scored an undefeated 87 in the tri-series final victory against Australia A in the month of August, and then he made 65 and acquired 5 wickets for 29 against a Bangladesh A team encompassingsome international players in the first one-day game in Bangalore.

Dhoni will be the skipper for the series

"Gurkeerat was selected looking at his all-round competencies," said Sandeep Patil, the chairman of selection committee. "The demands of the game are such that we need newall-rounders. The members of selection panel, said they had not considered any change in the captaincy, with MS Dhoni returning to lead the ODI and T20I teams after Virat Kohli had skippered India to a Test series win in Sri Lanka. "We have not argued anything about the ODI captaincy," Patil said. "We are very pleased the approach Dhoni has led. We have complete support for Dhoni throughout this series."

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami was not incorporated in one or the other squad because he is still experiencingrecovery for the knee injury he underwentin the course of the tour of Australia in 2014-15. Shami last played for India in the course of the 2015 World Cup and been relegated from all competitive cricket since.

"We have selected this side considering at the wickets," Patil said. "We have not lost confidence in our bowlers. There is still many time to go to World Twenty20. We did talk overIshant Sharma as well. Not like we have reserved him only for Tests."
