Sept. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Trained in the classics and inspired by pop music's power to touch millions of listeners, Jason Sager builds his unique style as a singer/songwriter, blending pop, rock and electronic elements.

Panoramic View, his upcoming debut EP (set for release on Friday, November 13th), features the young Florida-born artist on vocals and keyboards, co-producing and performing his original songs. Jason will celebrate the release of the EP and perform at The Rockwood Music Hall (Stage 2) on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 8:00 PM.

The buoyant beat and easy-to-relate-to romantic uncertainties of "Social Suicide" … the riff-driven groove and irresistible falsetto chorus of "Sunshine" … the vast sonic spread connoting a love as broad as the universe on "Singularity.” These and the other tracks on Panoramic View establish Sager as a champion of tunes that speak equally to critics who admire craftsmanship and fans who know an unforgettable melody when they hear it.

Melody was what lured Sager from his theory and composition studies at Princeton and NYU into the pop realm. "Even when I was writing classical works, I kept using pop melodies because that's what my ear wanted," he explains. "It just took me a while to realize that."

After moving to New York City, Sager involved himself in multiple musical activities, which included teaching low-income children at the Harlem Children's Zone and serving as music director at various youth theater camps and workshops. He also played band gigs and sessions, one of which connected him to producer Dave Brandwein and Galaxy Studios in Brooklyn.

"I loved the studio and really liked working with Dave," he says. "So I decided to try recording some of my newer songs with him.”

The results led directly to Panoramic View. "When we began, for me it was more about developing and experimenting with my sound," Sager says. "But it also came together as something more cohesive than I'd expected. All the songs are about relationships in one way or another. That's why I call it Panoramic View; it's about love and life as seen from different vantage points."

Drawing from influences that stretch from Ben Folds and Coldplay to Sara Bareilles, John Mayer, Jamie Cullum, Phoenix and musical theater innovator Jason Robert Brown, Panoramic View introduces an artist of unusual creative breadth and a deep passion to communicate. "I want my music to be thoughtful and interesting but also to speak really personally to people. Even with all the complexities in the structure of 'Skeletons,' the melody still reaches through it all because I just wrote what was in my head.”

Continues Sager: "I've given myself the assignment of making sure that everything I write and perform comes from a melody that everyone can embrace," Sager sums up. "That's what's closest to my heart."
