SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Sept. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Public safety advocate Lynne Brown has been announced as the featured speaker at Public Safety Fall Forum 2015. This community awareness event, presented by Take Back Santa Cruz & Santa Cruz Neighbors, Inc., takes place at 7:00PM at Holy Cross Parish Hall in Santa Cruz, California on October 22, 2015.

The forum will focus on the consequences of CA State Assembly Bill 109 (prison realignment) and CA State Proposition 47 (reduced penalties and reclassification for many crimes from felonies to misdemeanors). Lynne Brown will present a brief, compelling multimedia presentation which will shed light on information not disclosed to the public about policies that diminish safety and quality of life in our community. She will be followed by a panel discussion with local experts featuring Santa Cruz County Sheriff Jim Hart, Santa Cruz City Police Chief Kevin Vogel, Santa Cruz County District Attorney Jeff Rosell, and Chief Probation Officer for Santa Cruz County Fernado Giraldo, and will feature a Q&A with community members in the audience.

"Citizens have a right to full disclosure about public safety policies and offenders being released in to their communities.” stated featured speaker Lynne Brown. “As recently as 2004, our Legislature and Governor agreed by passing Megan's Law. Today, we're not getting full disclosure and it's depriving community members the information they need to make educated choices about their personal safety."

Tickets are $10 and are available online through Eventbrite. The event may sell out, so online registration is highly encouraged. (there may be a limited number of tickets available at the door).

"The registration fee will allow us to cover the event costs and all net proceeds will be donated to the
Santa Cruz Police Department’s P.R.I.D.E Program (Personally Responsible Individual Development in Ethics)”, stated Samantha Olden of Take Back Santa Cruz. “They provide a multi-faceted approach to early gang prevention for local intermediate school-aged kids. The program is designed to educate, mentor and guide troubled youth in their decision-making process.”
