SARASOTA, Fla. - Sept. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Children’s Healthy Pantry – a local registered non-profit dedicated to feeding underserved children in our community – invites the public to the 2nd Annual Taste of Jazz event. The up-tempo fundraiser will take place on Friday, October 9, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Sarasota Orchestra – Holley Hall, Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center. Entry ticket prices are $100 each, and all proceeds go towards the purchase of healthy school snacks for local children in need.

“Our Taste of Jazz events are a wonderful way to celebrate the harmony of the people in our community, as they come together to support local children,” said Joyce McCoy, Board President of Children’s Healthy Pantry. “We want to ensure all Sarasota-Manatee students have the necessary nourishment during the school day, so they can concentrate as they work towards their potential.”

In addition to supporting an outstanding cause, attendees of the Taste of Jazz event will enjoy a reception with hors d’oeuvres catered by Michael’s On East, live music by professional jazz musicians from the Sarasota area, plus a surprise appearance from a local musical group. A cash bar will also be available. Guests are encouraged to email info@eatsmarttobesmart.com or call 941.350.0080 to RSVP.

The purpose of Children’s Healthy Pantry is to ensure that children at risk have healthy snacks during the school day. In the 2014 - 2015 school year, the organization delivered over 126,000 items of supplemental nourishment and 76,000 bottles of water – a 50 percent increase from the 2013 - 2014 school year – to nine Title 1 schools, including:

•          Booker Middle School

•          Brentwood Elementary School

•          Emma E. Booker Elementary School

•          Glenallen Elementary School

•          Gocio Elementary School

•          Suncoast School for Innovative Studies

•          Tuttle Elementary School

•          Wilkinson Elementary School

•          Visible Men Academy

Children’s Healthy Pantry’s goal for the 2015 - 2016 school year is to build upon the level of support provided to these schools and extend its reach to additional local Title 1 school students in need.
