Value Chain Risk Management: Assurance Approaches to Sustainability in Agriculture

GENEVA - Sept. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- There have recently been some high level media coverage for instance on tea plantations in Asia. We take this opportunity to overview the types of analysis being undertaken to ensure that workers in the direct food production are well treated according to the ethical requirements of global food businesses. Whilst the agriculture sustainability topic is nothing new, what is in focus is the number of global organisations that are pushing requirements through every tier of their value chain, and now charging their suppliers in turn to take ownership and accountability for primary producers. We look at some of the topics covered and see what this might mean for your value chain.

This webinar builds on the SGS Value Chain Risk Management series which focuses on topics of sustainability and integrity from building robust value chain risk management systems, to evaluating performance, to communicating performance. Dr. Colin Morgan, Global Product Manager – Value Chain Systems Risk

Dr. Morgan holds a doctorate in organizational responsibility and has global responsibility for the SGS service delivery for Responsible Sourcing risk-based evaluations for organizations globally. He also oversees the SGS Sustainability Strategy & Communications services where he has worked with globally recognized high profile organizations across the globe. He oversees the global delivery of sustainability reporting communications, particularly focusing on Sustainability Performance & Communications Assurance, where SGS has worked with over 150 companies to ensure their integrity in reporting. Dr. Morgan is also the product manager for the ISO 26000, ISO 20121 and a wide range of customized responsible sourcing programs for SGS clients.

Louise Hawson, Managing Director, Sustainable Balance

Ms. Hawson is the Managing Director of Sustainable Balance, a UK-based consultancy that advises companies on their Sustainability Strategy and Performance Measurement. She has worked with SGS on many assignments and has recently completed a number of projects based on value chain risk management assignment, focused on agriculture. Ms. Hawson undertakes a range of assurance and advisory assignments around the World and is a highly regarded practitioner and has deep strategic insight in to this webinar topic.
