Trailnet Announces Active Living Award Winners - St. Louisans to be Honored at October Reception

ST. LOUIS - Sept. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Trailnet will hold its annual Active Living Awards Thursday, October 22, at 6p.m. to honor individuals, nonprofits, municipalities, and businesses that make unique and sustainable efforts to encourage physical activity and active transportation. Trailnet will presentthe awards at The Sheldon Concert Hall prior to a live concert with nationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Martin Sexton. KMOX Talk Show Host Mark Reardon will serve as master of ceremonies.

This year’s honorees include St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger, who will receive the Regional Government Award for implementing Trailnet’s mission in the areas of planning, project management, and infrastructure improvement.

The Collective Impact/Community Investment Award will be presented jointly to Emerson Executive Vice President Patrick Sly, MERS Goodwill Vice President of Program ServicesHilary Wagner, and Gerry Noll, owner of the Ferguson Bicycle Shop in recognition of the impact of their collaboration in Ferguson.

The City of Kirkwood will receive the Local Public Engagement Award for their exemplary follow-through in implementing principles of street design in coordination with Trailnet’s planning staff.

The Innovative Community Catalyst Award will go to Cortex President and CEO Dennis Lower for his significant contributions to connectivity and livability in St. Louis’ central corridor.  GirlTrek Team Leader Faye Paige Edwards will be honored with the Tom Yarbrough Award for her contribution to the health of the St. Louis region by encouraging local women to be more active and to reclaim their communities.

Trailnet Executive Director Ralph Pfremmer, said the evening will, “celebrate the accomplishments of dynamic community members and highlight the importance of Trailnet’s advocacy in the St. Louis region.”
