Costa Rican Car Rental Getting Way Better

The Costa Rican Car Rental Association (ACAR) is relaunching itself as a self-regulatory body with the main purpose of providing a neutral mediatory service between customers and the member agencies, and clear information for rental clients.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - Sept. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- The Costa Rican Car Rental Association (ACAR) announced radical changes to its organization in September 2015 to combat the tarnished image of the industry in the country with sweeping changes to its structure.

Although the organization was founded in 1970 to provide representation for the agencies, it is only recently that the focus of the group has shifted from information-sharing to becomethe catalyst for change in the industry.  ACAR will provide customers with a neutral channel of communication between themselves and the different agencies and a source of clear and useful information on topics related to car rental on its website.

ACAR President, Jose Seas, commented on the relaunch saying  ‘In times when communication is critical, ACAR is moving with its members and customers, in order to be an effective intermediary in providing response to any type of question or issue that may arise regarding  car rental in Costa Rica.’

ACAR members include all the major rental agencies in the country: Adobe, Alamo, Apex, Avanti, Avis, Budget, Dollar , Economy, Enterprise, Europcar, Green Motion, Fox, Hertz, Mapache, National, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty, Toyota, USave and Vamos.  Members agreed that it’s time for ACAR to move into the modern world and the Association will be working through social media and travel forums as well as through its own website.

Common issues raised by customers on travel forums and in online reviews are hidden fees, customer service concerns and overcharging.  Many of these issues arise from a lack of clear information about the required fees and coverages for car rental in the country and one of ACAR’s primary aims will be to provide straightforward and simple articles which outline the main points of interest for car renters.  Dissatisfied customers are welcome to contact ACAR customer service representatives directly via email at info@acar.cr for a professional, swift and sympathetic response to the issues they have encountered during their car rental.

Costa Rica is a small country, but with so much to see; visitors rarely stay in one destination.  The obvious way to get around is with a rental vehicle and now that process will be so much easier.  ACAR are working for a better and more responsible car rental industry.
