LAS VEGAS - Sept. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- The creative team behind the Dynamite Entertainment revival of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, writer Matt Wagner and artist Dan Schkade, are just two of the many titanic talents appearing at the eighth annual Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival (VVCBF), taking place at the Clark County Library (1401 E. Flamingo Road) on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Produced by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, the VVCBF is a free, family-friendly, one-day event celebrating comic books, sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture. In addition to fans being able to peruse comics, toys and other merchandise at the many vendor booths in a courtyard marketplace, they can also meet artists, writers and independent publishers in Artist Alley, which continues to expand in size. Activities for all ages abound at the festival, including superhero mask-making, face painting, and the return of our popular Art Jam.

This year’s programming lineup is the largest and most diverse yet, offering panel discussions with our guests, how-to sessions on drawing and self-publishing, intimate writing, editing and podcasting workshops, and much more. Highlights include a screening of the documentary film Stripped, featuring a Q&A with filmmakers Dave Kellett and Frederick Schroeder, a special live edition of the popular podcast Rachel & Miles X-Plain the X-Men, and a panel on diverse content and creators in the comics industry. Several local food trucks will provide curbside snacks and libations throughout the day, including Zombie Dogs, Curbside Cafe, Gourmet Soiree and Grouchy John’s Coffee.

Live music will once again be a distinctive component of the VVCBF, but cranked up to the maximum degree. Not only will the library’s Main Theater play host to sister-sister duo The Doubleclicks and YouTube sensation Molly Lewis during the main event, but an official after-festival concert at The Dive Bar (4110 S. Maryland Parkway) will feature local bands Tippy Elvis, 3D6, Super Zeroes and Time Crashers, as well as an encore set by The Doubleclicks. The after-party begins at 8 p.m. and is free for guests 21 and over.

Admission to the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival is free to the public, but fans can upgrade their experience by pre-registering for a VIP package. For only $5, guests will receive a limited-edition VIP badge, swag bag filled with comics, art and other freebies donated by publishers and local businesses, and other benefits, with all proceeds benefiting the Comic Book Festival. Registration is now open at http://www.vegasvalleycomicbookfestival.org and is limited to 150 packages.
