For over a decade, FYI Films has taught filmmaking skills to incarcerated youths to empower them and to help young people change their lives.  Founded by Award-winning filmmaker, Alex C. Muñoz, FYI Films continues to change the lives of youth.  Muñoz comments, "I created FYI Films as a way to give back to the community and to bring hope to young people."  Recently, FYI Films expanded their program and brought it to teens on a Native American reservation in Colorado.  The teens wrote, directed & performed in a short called 'Escape' which screened at the Sunflower Theatre in Cortez, Colorado.

In addition to FYI Films, Muñoz also works in Hollywood as a writer/director.  His documentary, "A Dream Deferred" will premiere at the Englewood International Film Festival in Chicago, IL the weekend of Oct. 22nd 2015. "A Dream Deferred" is about NBA star Derrick Rose's season ending injury in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs vs. the Sixers.  Currently,  Muñoz's award-winning series, "Griot's Lament" is streaming on Amazon and will screen at the Guam International Film Festival and at the Hawaii International Film Festival.  Muñoz is currently in pre-production on his next film, "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" which will begin filming in February 2016.
