ATLANTA - Sept. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- A fully restored, Italian-made 1957 Riva Ariston boat with custom trailer, a spectacular early 20th century gun room in mahogany and king wood, and a Steinway Model D concert grand piano in superb condition are just a few of the wild and wonderful items to be sold at Red Baron Antiques’ Auction #101, a two-day sale slated for October 10th and 11th.

The auction will be held in Reds Baron’s new gallery, at 8655 Roswell Road (Suite B) in Sandy Springs, an upscale suburb of Atlanta located just north of the city. “Fall’s here, and that means it’s time once again for our biggest auction of the year,” said Bob Brown of Red Baron’s. “We invite everyone to come and enjoy the excitement of placing a winning bid on a truly great item.”

In all, more than 1,000 lots will come up for bid, in the categories people have come to expect from a Red Baron auction: classic automobiles, architectural antiques, genuine pub bars, estate jewelry, slot machines and other gaming devices, original oil paintings, fountains and garden statuary and more. For those unable to attend in person, phone and absentee bids will be taken.

The 1957 Riva Ariston was crafted in Italy and restored in Switzerland (at a cost to the owner of 140,000 euros). The Riva has a reputation for being the king of boats and the Rolls Royce of the water, with good reason. It is a magical watercraft, made with only the finest materials, including Swedish stainless steel tanks, German-made instruments, Belgian glass, African mahogany and English wood screws. The Riva being sold, in mint condition, should realize $50,000-$125,000.

The early 1900s gun room (called The Armory) is actually the entire interior of a former English gun club. In pristine condition and crafted from mahogany and king wood, the room has eight cases in varying sizes, to house the full inventory of a fine sportsman’s assortment. The two large back cases contain rows of silver over bronze rifle holders that are adjustable for different length weapons, to maximize storage space. This armory interior should gavel for $125,000-$250,000.

The Steinway Model D concert grand piano is a marvelous example of the most widely used piano by professional pianists around the world (as well as the standard by which all other concert pianos are judged). This example, just shy of nine feet in length, is expected to change hands for $75,000-$150,000. Another noteworthy décor item is a palatial gilt wood mirror, boasting elaborate pierce-carved acanthus swirls and huge at 109 inches tall by 79 inches wide.

Genuine pub bars with real interiors (not reproductions) are hugely popular right now, and this auction has a wide selection of them. Featured bars include The Bell pub bar, removed from its original structure along the Thames River in England and stored for over 20 years (est. $75,000-$125,000); The Wine Bar, an 18-foot-long mahogany pub bar with fine carvings and stained glass insets (est. $65,000-$95,000); the Beers & Ale pub bar, 103 inches long, with etched mirrors and marble counter (est. $32,000-$55,000); the Fox & Hounds Irish pub bar, with twelve 5 foot by 5 foot stained glass ceiling panels, stained glass back bar and two entry doors; and The Guinness mahogany pub bar with a brassiere theme, also a seating area and many fine carvings.

Monumental fountains, glorious gardens and wonderful architectural antiques are a staple at most Red Baron auctions, and this one will be no exception. Lots to watch will include a massive iron fountain, topped with a lady figure and cranes, with two tiers of bowls and children around the base, 20 feet tall from top to bottom (est. $60,000-$120,000); a fantastic King Neptune fountain with horses and fancy quatrefoil coping, 11 feet tall (est. $25,000-$35,000); and a large and beautiful green wrought iron galvanized solarium, with tempered glass and fine scroll work, 17 feet tall (est. $55,000-$90,000). Also sold will be gazebos, gates, fences, yard lions and more.

Rare and classic cars will be served up in abundance. Stars of the category will include a 1961 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow sedan in excellent condition, with air conditioning (est. $25,000-$45,000); a 1954 MG-TF coupe, recently repainted its original British racing green (est. 9,000-$12,000); a red 1972 Ford Mustang convertible; a 1984 Fiat; and a 1929 Ford Model A Woody.

Merchandise previews will be held at Red Baron’s gallery daily from Oct. 5-9. There will also be a preview party on Friday, Oct. 9, from 7-9:30 p.m. Start time for both auction days (Oct. 10 and 11) will be 9 a.m. Eastern time. They will conclude each day around 7 p.m. Registration is $50 per person, at the door, credited toward a purchase. No charge if the person has pre-registered.
