Oct. 23: 80s night charity event at Lumen in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - Sept. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- On Friday, October 23, Heffernan Insurance Brokers (http://www.heffins.com/stl/) is hosting a Totally 80s Dance Party at Lumen in downtown St. Louis. Feeling nostalgic for the 80s? Then you're invited and encouraged to glam it up to the max to attend this rad party. Be prepared to be dazzled by the ultimate, gnarly new wave 80s band the Spazmatics (http://www.chicagospazmatics.com/) from Chicago and enjoy great food and drinks all night long. Which is, like, totally tubular. VIP tickets are $250 and include swag bags, early entrance (6 p.m.) and more. General admission tickets are $125 with a 7 p.m entry to the event. While this night is about having fun, it's also about charity and helping the St. Louis and surrounding communities with a percentage of the night's proceeds going toward the Heffernan Foundation.

Across Missouri and southern Illinois, the Heffernan Foundation has given nearly $100,000 since 2008 to a number of charities that focus on shelter, food, education, and environmental protection. Past charities include: Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Willows Way, Inc., HavenHouse St. Louis, Sunnyhill, Inc. and Disability Resource Association.

“As our CEO says, 'it's the right thing to do,'” said Mike Boone, Heffernan St. Louis senior vice president. “Each year our employees nominate organizations that are involved in shelter, food, education and environmental protection to apply for funding as we believe those are invaluable resources for a healthy lifestyle for everyone. It's important for us to give back to our region and surrounding communities because we care about living in a vibrant community.”

It's not all about giving monetarily to the region, either. “We believe that giving back can happen in a variety of ways,” said Linda Huber, employee benefits practice leader for Heffernan St Louis. “We support our employee’s efforts to monetarily support non-profits, but we also feel it’s important to donate time and talents. Each of our employees is given four paid days per year to volunteer. We take a lot of pride in our volunteer program.”

The event is made possible in part to some top sponsors including Patriot National, Inc. ($15,000.00), The Hanover Insurance Group ($10,000.00) and Philadelphia Insurance Companies ($10,000.00).
