Jensen Design & Survey Announces its Newest Engineer to its Firm

VENTURA, Calif. - Sept. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. (JDS), a full-service civil engineering, surveying, planning, and construction administration firm, recently announced its newest member to the team, Angie Ortiz. Ortiz was hired on as a Staff Engineer to see day-to-day projects such as editing of drainage and grading plans, as well as new developments for single and family homes.

A resident of Oceanside, Calif., Ortiz is a recent grad from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she obtained her degree in Civil Engineering. During her academic career, she was a part of the SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), where she participated in several outreach programs to encourage students from low-income, first generation high school to attend college. In October 2014, she also interned at the Public Works Department at the County of San Luis Obispo until she graduated in June 2015.

“The SHPE outreach events were important to me because I am a first- generation college student. My parents did not have the opportunity to finish middle school, so I understood the struggles and self-doubt some of these students had,” says Ortiz. “It was important to be a part of such amazing internships and organizations because it has helped shape me into the professional I am today.”

Now a Ventura County resident, Ortiz is working toward new local chapters such as American Society of Civil Engineers Young Member Forum (ASCE YMF) and Engineers Without Borders (EWB).

“I am fortunate enough to begin my professional career here at Jensen Design and Survey where I am surrounded by many intelligent and highly experienced individuals,” expresses Ortiz. . “I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead and I am most definitely excited to see what I accomplish throughout my career.”
