BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Sept. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Taking advantage of the reach of social media, Cordula and Saeeid Dastmalchian of Hamburg, Germany started the "My Face for Peace" initiative a little over three years ago, with the goal of convincing 10,000 people from around the globe to submit a "selfie" along with a succinct pro-peace message. They have succeeded.

Building on that success, the Dastmalchians have now published (release date to be sometime this week) a 300 page volume they call The Peace Book, containing the collected photographs, along with inspiring quotes and some thought provoking short essays about peace.

Asked to comment and reached at his office in Hamburg, Iranian born co-creator of My Face For Peace, Saeeid Dastmalchian said: “My wife Cordula and I are extremely grateful to the more than 10,000 people from all over the planet who have contributed their ‘face for peace’ images to our project. We hope The Peace Book will send a clear message to world leaders about the universality of the desire and need for peace.”

The release of The Peace Book comes on the heels of the September 21, 2015 global Peace Day celebrations, and accordingly has caught the attention of other peace groups around the world.

New York photographer Rita Gelber, who operates the I Declare World Peace project with her husband, congratulated the Dastmalchians. "We congratulate Saeeid and Cordula on this remarkable achievement. We are honored that they included one of our essays in The Peace Book.  The I Declare World Peace project seeks to raise global peace consciousness and Saeeid and Cordula have demonstrated not only that this can be achieved through social media but that it can make a difference in human thought in the real world”

My Face For Peace succeeded in generating responses from all over the globe, and so it stands as a perfect example of the “Partnerships for Peace” idea promoted by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.  Ms. Gelber noted that many groups across the internet, involved in a broad range of initiatives have formed a loose “common-cause” coalition, so, along with My Face For Peace and I Declare World Peace, disparate groups such as The Red Elephant Foundation of Chennai, India (a pro-women’s rights group) and Jeremiah’s Hope for Kindness of Minnesota (an anti-bullying initiative), among others, have from time to time cross-promoted each other, thus achieving a synergy that has made peace promotion, kindness promotion, equality promotion and so on a lively activity on social media.

The Peace Book, a trade paperback over 300 pages, is being made available through various online retailers at an approximate cost of $35.00.
