Local leaders set to participate in “Community Conversation” sponsored by PNC Bank

The Center for Urban Families hosts its first “Community Conversation” event of a three-part series that explores Baltimore City’s history and solutions to April’s unrest.

BALTIMORE - Sept. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) will host “The Future of Baltimore: Conversations and Solutions – How We Got to Where We Are as a City” on Thursday, October 1st from 6-8pm at New Shiloh Baptist Church in the Mondawmin community of West Baltimore. The event addresses pressing community issues and includes a special presentation by Assistant Professor of Legal, Ethical and Historical Studies, Dr. Elizabeth M. Nix from the University of Baltimore along with an interactive panel discussion featuring Maryland State Senator Catherine E. Pugh of the 40th Legislative District.

Vernā Myers of Vernā Myers Consulting Group, LLC is set to moderate the October 1st panel discussion. Other featured panelists include Barbara Samuels of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Maryland; community activist, Nathaniel Freeman; and CFUF program member, Barry Lancaster.

Sponsored by PNC Bank, CFUF’s “Community Conversation” series brings together local leaders to discuss solutions to Baltimore City’s civic and social issues- many of which were brought to light during the City’s April unrest that followed the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody. Two additional installations of the event addressing other important topics will take place over a six-month time period following the inaugural event.
