Local Bull Rider Gears Up to Compete with 4 World Champions in ConroeTuff Hedeman Brings Bull Riding's Elite to the Lone Star Expo Center
Demond Haynes recently broke into the CBR World Standings for the first time with solid showings on the last two tour stops, Window Rock, Ariz., and Laughlin, Nevada. Demond Haynes comes to the CBR not only as a bull rider but as a partner with Houston stock contractor William Barnett’s Barn2Buck bull team in the CBR’s Bull Team Challenge competition. Haynes, the reigning National Professional Bull Riders year end champion, made the final four Shoot Out round in his first CBR Mahindra Road to Cheyenne tour event in Window Rock, Arizona earlier this month. Exclusive Genetics owner Billy Jaynes, Orchard, Texas, had this to say about the up and coming bull rider from Houston. “Demond’s a great kid, super polite and not afraid to spur one. When he is riding his best and his confidence is high, he goes for it and that is usually what the great ones do.” The son of a bull rider, rodeo is all Haynes has ever known. He began his career at age four and by seven he was riding steers. “It’s all I ever wanted to do”. Demond Haynes and Craig Jackson will represent Houston in the elite bull riding competition which features a tournament style format that appeals to fans because riders can challenge as many as three bulls in one performance. Country music TV host and internet sensation, Chad Prather, takes the stage during intermission. Action gets underway with 24 cowboys testing their skills against some of the best bovines in the industry in a three round tournament style event worth $30,000. In addition to the lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points towards the the world finals where the CBR world champion will receive a $100,000 bonus to be awarded during Cheyenne Frontier Days. Locally owned World Champion Bucking Bull, Penny Lover, and other champion bulls from the national tour will be making the trip to Montgomery County. CBR features the unique CBR Bull Team Challenge “other side of the ride” competition where the crème of the crop in bovine athletes provide the bull power for the three bull teams that are featured during the first two rounds of the contest with a total purse worth $45,000.
