New company introduces a tea that creates no waste

Tea lovers can now order matcha-infused, environmentally-friendly tea powder

Sept. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Two eco-conscious stay-at-home moms have launched 10th Avenue Tea, an all-natural matcha- infused instant tea powder that eliminates the tons of waste created by teabags and K-cups,.

The tea powder is sold in a two-ounce aluminum bottle, which makes up to 60 servings and is fitted with a shaker top. Buyers simply shake the desired amount of tea into a cup, and then pour hot or iced water over it. The matcha-infused blends are currently available in four flavors: green blend, black chai blend, tropical blend and English breakfast blend.

“I loved the convenience of K-cups, but I couldn’t understand why convenience had to create so much waste,” said Ann Foley, co-founder of 10th Avenue Tea. “I wanted to create something that eliminated the hassle of preparing loose tea or brewing and steeping bags and also didn’t impact the environment.”

After months of development with a chemist, Foley finally found the right formula and began manufacturing the product in July 2015. The result is a highly versatile product that has all the depth of flavor of traditional tea and teabags.

“My customers love that there are so many servings per jar, and every day I am hearing about new ways they are using the tea,” said Morgan Walsh co-founder 10th Avenue Tea. “I have customers who sprinkle it in their smoothies, their yogurt and even their oatmeal.”

Consumers have a growing interest in antioxidant-rich matcha, which has made its way onto menus at restaurants and tea houses. While teabags and K-cups produce tons of waste in landfills each year, buyers are drawn to 10th Avenue Tea’s green mission of creating a waste- free product.
