Follow on Google News | Service Brewing, Co. Joins Mighty Eighth Museum for 2015 Flying Fortress 5K | Mighty 8KBy: The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Service Brewing, Co. is a veteran owned and operated craft brewery in Savannah, dedicated to honoring those who have put their lives at risk and their country and community first. The addition of a beer tent is just one of the many changes for the 2015 Flying Fortress 5K | Mighty 8K. A longer 8K run has been added to appeal to more seasoned runners and electronic chipped timing is being used for the most accurate finish. There will be a unique t-shirt design for each run, and after the run, athletes 21 and older are invited to have a beer. “We decided to shake things up this year,” says President and CEO, Henry Skipper. “Adding the 8K gives runners a new challenge. We also want to make this a day for everyone and from the Kids Run in the morning to the beer tent after the race, this won’t just be a run, it will be an experience!” Not everything is changing, though. The Mighty Eighth is bringing back the popular Kids Run at 8:15 am, along with dog-tag awards for the top runners in each category. Those will be passed out by a World War II Veteran. The run will start at 8:30 am in front of the museum at 175 Bourne Avenue in Pooler at I-95 exit 102, and will cross over the JCB property. Registration will remain open until the morning of the race.
