Indian Young Adults at High Risk of Reproductive Illnesses: MediAngels

MUMBAI, India - Sept. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- September 21, 2015 | Mumbai: A study on reproductive health among Indian adolescents conducted by MediAngels.com, the World’s First Online Hospital, found an alarming 4.9 per cent rise in sexually transmitted infections in the last four years.

The finding estimated that 31 per cent (i.e. one out of every three individuals), is afflicted with AIDS in India is an adolescent. The research conducted by MediAngels.com revealed that sexual experiences are increasing among the early ages of 10-19. It has been observed that in this particular age group, more than 6.5 per cent of the boys and over 1.3 per cent of girls admitted to having had intercourse at least once. The average age of sexual contact is now 13.72 years for girls and 14.09 years for boys, while the average age for first intercourse was 16.66 years for girls and 15.25 years for boys.

The study was conducted on 21,467 individuals spread equally between the top 10 metropolitan cities and other smaller towns in the country. The primary objective was to determine indicators and drivers of sexuality and sexually transmitted deceases (STDs) in the urban young adult population.
