Barcelona to Host Its First TechStars StartupWeek

From September 27, 2015 until October 2, 2015 the international event will feature successful entrepreneurs, investors and businesspeople connecting with local Barcelona startups to support and grow the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the city

NEW YORK - Sept. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- On Monday September 28, 2015 the MediaTIC Cibernarium will kick off the launch of Barcelona StartupWeek. StartupWeek is an international event celebrated in cities all over the world with the mission of developing and supporting communities of entrepreneurs. Its a way to promote meetings between entrepreneurs so they can connect and share their experiences. During the week entrepreneurs and local leaders will create momentum and business opportunities to further grow Barcelona's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Presented by journalist and TV host, Xantal Llavina, the kickoff will include Ángel Sáenz de Cenzano, Director of Platform Development and Innovation at Microsoft Europe; Benjamí Puigdevall, General Director of e-LaCaixa, Andrés Saborido, Director of Wayra España de Telefónica Open Future, and Jordi Boza, CEO of startup Remote Eye and leader of Barcelona StartupWeek. The event expects over 700 participants.

More than 80 national and international experts

During Barcelona StartupWeek, prestigious and well-known professionals, investors and advisors will participate. People such as Luis Martín Cabiedes, investor in more than 40 startups (such as Privalia, Offerum and Trovit), Rodolfo Carpintier, Founder of the internet and high-tech incubator Digital Assets Deployment, Gerard Olivé, Cofounder of Fancybox, Wallapop, Chicplace, Shopery and elcodi, and Ángel Bonet, President and Founder of Unltd Spain, a major program of social entrepreneurship, among others.

Sofía Benjumea, Director of Google's Madrid Campus for Entrepreneurs, investors and entrepreneurs Ignacio Fonts and Javier Megías, Gina Tost, co-founder of Geenapp, named one of the Best European Startups of 2015 by Wired magazine, Scott Mackin, founder of Barcinno Media and Bourbon Creative, Ignasi Costas, experienced legal advisor to entrepreneurs and investors.

All the sessions are free to the public who register, thanks to generous sponsors and speakers who share the vision and believe in the power of a strong community of startups and will participate in the event  pro-bono.

StartupWeek is a program of Techstars http://www.techstars.com , one of the major incubators of startups in America and worldwide. This first edition of Barcelona’s Startup Week counted on the help of institutions such as the Government of the City of Barcelona and Barcelona Activa, and the Generalitat of Catalunya, with its programs iDigital and Catalunya Emprèn and sponsors such as Telefónica Open Future, Microsoft, CaixaBank, 4YFN – Mobile World Capital and Vistaprint among others. As well, counting on the help of the startups, associations and businesses that want to contribute to the growth of startups and entrepreneurs in Barcelona.

Women Entrepreneurs

This first edition dedicates special interest to sessions addressing women entrepreneurs, which will support the program for this group “Eres Impulso" Font Vella, as Social Entrepreneurship projects.
