Follow on Google News | Lucky's 3-Day Ride on Katy Trail to Fund Youth Education Programs (Columbia - STL)By: Trailnet In 2014, Trailnet organized Walk to School days (one-day events in which parents and kids are encouraged to walk to school) at eight schools, engaging nearly 2,000 children in the region. By participating in the Lucky's Ride fundraiser, riders can help Trailnet bolster the reach of its youth education programs with the aim of building healthy, active communities in which biking, walking, and the use of public transit are a way of life. Those interested are encouraged to register at Trailnet.org, then round up their gear and prepare to hit the Katy Trail October 2 to October 4 to ride and socialize with fellow cyclists. Included in the cost of the ride is nightly entertainment, breakfast, dinner, and a gear shuttle. This three-day adventure begins with a kick-off celebration at Lucky's Market in Ellisville, followed by a bus ride to Lucky's Market in Columbia, where the ride will begin. Riders will bike the beautiful Katy Trail, enjoying two evenings of camping with live music at the overnight locations--Mokane and Marthasville. Showers will be accessible at both locations and B&B or hotel options are also available. Trailnet will announce a band lineup for both nights prior to the ride. Mokane Bar & Grill will serve dinner Friday night and breakfast Saturday Morning. The Marthasville Community Center will provide Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. The route will end with a celebration party at the newly-opened Lucky's Market in Rock Hill. Arrangements can be made for riders starting in Columbia to be transported back after completing the ride. Once riders are registered (http://r20.rs6.net/ Trailnet’s mission is to lead in fostering healthy, active and vibrant communities where walking, bicycling and the use of public transit are a way of life.
