International Artist Avi Roth Receives Homecoming Exhibition at Art-Space Gallery

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- (Los Angeles – September 15, 2015) Announcing an opening reception at Art-Space Gallery, 2605 N. Lake Avenue, Altadena, CA 91001 on October 9, 2015 from 7PM -10PM for the international artist Avi Roth, returning from the Jerusalem Biennale, where his work “Memento 613” was featured in a highly esteemed cultural event. The exhibit will be open 12PM to 6PM on Saturdays and Sundays, and by appointment  Wednesday - Friday through October 31, 2015.

Avi Roth: Higher Grounds will feature over 20 new works, including Roth’s highly regarded coffeegraph Lemuria, the Lost Motherland, as well as prints that introduced coffeegraph® to America in 2006.  Also featured, Roth’s widely considered landmark work Babylonia, a series of seven coffeegraphs inspired by historical narratives from the Babylonian exile. The gallery space in this exhibition is devoted exclusively to this series. His arduous effort in the last decade produced over 100 intricate coffeegraphs that represent Roth’s artistic vision and ambition.

Born in 1947 in Transylvania, Avi Roth was the first American artist who pioneered and expanded the concept of coffeegraph®. Roth studied in Tel Aviv and London, and during the 1970s traveled and photographed extensively throughout Europe while studying at The London Film School.

Avi Roth: Higher Grounds is a collaboration between Art-Space Gallery in Altadena, CA and Los Angeles art curator Dale Youngman. “Avi Roth is extraordinary in many ways,” explains Youngman. “He abandoned a career as a renowned high-end photographer to pioneer a brilliant new art form and creative style - the use of various coffee pigments creating three dimensional textural depth in two dimensional art prints.Though his work has not gained substantial attention until now, his methodical and unique method of creating art in the last decade is sure to inspire and enthrall the viewer whether they are a serious collector or a casual art enthusiast.”
