ICAA RMC Announces Winners of 2015 Newman Awards

Awards Honor Advancement and Support of the Arts and Architecture

DENVER - Sept. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art Rocky Mountain Chapter (ICAA RMC) formally announced the winners of the 2015 Newman Awards at an awards ceremony held last evening at the Brown Palace. These awards acknowledge, support and advance traditional concepts in design within the Rocky Mountain region.

More than 40 entries were submitted for consideration and judged by well-known architects and art experts including Mark Appleton, AIA; Tim Barber, AIA, LEEP AP; Mark Gelernter, PhD; Jan Peck, ASID; and David Tryba, FAIA. Winners were selected within six categories including residential architecture, commercial architecture, interiors, history and journalism, student awards, and craftsmanship. Newly introduced this year is a $2,500 scholarship that will be awarded to the top student award winner.

The 2015 Newman Award winners are:

•        The Clinton Family Fund Medal: Daniel L. Ritchie

•        Student Scholarship: Connor Bingham

•        Student Certificate of Merit: Samantha White

•        History & Journalism: Jody Brotherston

•        History & Journalism: Phil Anschutz

•        Craftsmanship: David Kremer

•        Craftsmanship: Montare Builders

•        Interiors: Nadia Watts Interior Design

•        Interiors Certificate of Merit: Mandil Inc.

•        Interiors Certificate of Merit: C+A Interiors

•        Architecture Residential: Arthur Chabon Architect

•        Architecture Commercial: Robert A.M. Stern Architects

•        Architecture Certificate of Merit: Doug Walter Architects

•        Architecture Certificate of Citation: Elizabeth Metz Architect

•        Rocky Mountain Visionary Award: Todd Reed

“Year after year, our panel of judges find it a challenge to single out any one architect or designer over another with each entry displaying a superior level of creativity and dedication to classic design,” said Don Ruggles, AIA, NCARB, ICAA, founder and past president of the ICAA RMC. “We look forward to seeing the work of this year’s winners, and all the other entrants, continue to make the Rocky Mountain region even more notable for its architecture and arts.”
