ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Sept. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Alfred Street Baptist Church (ASBC), the oldest, largest, and most prominent African American congregation in the United States, where the Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley serves as pastor, will host the Largest FREE Health Fair in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday, September 19 from 9am to 3pm. Alfred Street Baptist Church; located at 301 S. Alfred Street in Alexandria, Virginia, will offer FREE screenings that address today’s most critical health issues, including cholesterol, diabetes, dental, and HIV/AIDS at the 2015 Community Health Fair. Additionally, international fitness instructor Estelle Archer of All Natural Fitness is offering classes featuring her popular SWEAT workout for FREE.

Similar to Zumba, SWEAT is an hour-long workout class founded by Archer. In the beginning, PGA classes started out with just five of her closest friends and family, to over thirty men, woman, teens, and kids each night. Soon enough, Estelle began gaining attention through social media from people in other states and countries that wanted to participate in her class. In January 2014, she made the decision to put all of her belongings in a storage unit, sell her car, and take her savings to help others. She booked a one-way ticket across the country and started the #SWEATTOUR2014. Today, she has driven and taught her class in over seventy-four cities and 50 states (including Mexico and Puerto Rico).

ASBC will also be providing over 300 community members with a variety of health-related activities including:

·     Interactive demonstrations such as golf lessons with certified PGA professionals, reflexology, self-defense, yoga, dance, aerobic exercise, and chair massage.

·     Free vision and hearing tests, Free cholesterol, chiropractic, glucose, and blood pressure screenings

·     Gender specific panel discussions with physicians covering breast cancer, heart disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, prostate, skin care, gastro/colon, orthopedics, weight loss, cardiovascular, and more

·     There will aslo be a Blood drive sponsored by Inova Health System.

Over 40 doctors including those from the Medico Chirurgical Society of the District of Columbia (Med-Chi), the oldest African American Medical Society in the United States and other organizations will donate their time in support of Alfred Street’s health and wellness mission. “We support and believe in healing the body and soul, and being born again. We welcome all to attend our annual community health fair as we continue to demonstrate this belief by serving our brothers and sisters. We pray that this inspires all to take charge of their health and respect their bodies as the temples that God created,” states Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley, pastor, Alfred Street Baptist Church.
