GLASTONBURY, Conn. - Sept. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc., a leading environmental and geotechnical engineering consulting firm, has awarded a $2,350 Shareholder’s Grant to the Salmon River Watershed Partnership based on an application from Christopher Frey, a Senior Project Manager in the Glastonbury office of GZA.

GZA bestows four roughly $2,500 grants each year to organizations whose specific programs would best benefit from the award.  The Shareholder’s Grant program was established to support employee volunteerism and charity work in the firm’s communities and throughout the world.

Frey proposed the Salmon River Watershed Partnership (SRWP) as a recipient of the GZA Shareholder’s Grant based on its mission to protect and restore the water resources of the watershed, which covers 150 square miles through ten towns.

The grant will be used for the purchase of data loggers to be used for monitoring impacts from road salt to tributaries within the watershed.

Employees within the Glastonbury office of GZA, known as the “Green Team” will volunteer their time in this program to work together with SRWP coordinator Patricia Young to select and establish the monitoring stations, conduct periodic inspections and download and manage the data at regular intervals throughout the year.

The “Green Team” is comprised on Frey, James Hutton, Anthony Trani, Ruth Kennedy, Marlee NajamyWinnick and Ryan Kelly.

Frey, a resident of Hebron, Connecticut has been with GZA for 18 years.  A Licensed Professional with the state of Connecticut, he specializes in the design and implementation of programs for the investigation and remediation of contaminated properties.

He is a member of the Town of Hebron’s Inland Wetland and Conservation Commission as well as the Open Space Land Acquisition Committee.
