Referencing the Muse: An Exploration of the Jewelry Artist’s Inspiration

Aaron Faber Gallery Exhibition Examines the Origins of Creativity in Jewelry Design
By: Aaron Faber Gallery

NEW YORK - Sept. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Greek mythology speaks of the Muse, a guiding spirit and source of inspiration to which artists defer at the beginning of their creative journey. Homer invokes his Muse at the beginning of both The Iliad and The Odyssey, and subsequently produces a work of art that endures millennia. For its annual fall exhibition, Aaron Faber Gallery, 666 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY, explores the concept of the Muse with commissioned work from 14 critically acclaimed jewelry artists whose careers and jewelry designs are following the same enduring path first traversed by Homer.  Opening Thursday, October 8, 2015, “Referencing the Muse: An Exploration of the Jewelry Artist’s Inspiration” examines the professed muse of these 14 artists with never-before-seen jewelry presented exclusively for this exhibition.

Participating jewelry artists include:

·         Arata Fuchi

·         Barbara Heinrich

·         Bernd Munsteiner

·         Brooke Marks-Swanson

·         Christy Klug

·         Claudio Pino

·         Élise Bergeron

·         Glenda Arentzen

·         Harold O’Connor

·         Janis Kerman

·         Juha Koskela

·         Linda Kindler-Priest

·         Lucie Heskett-Brem

·         Roland Dubuc

“Creativity is mostly a mystery driven by inspiration,” said Patricia Faber, curator and co-owner of Aaron Faber Gallery. “Jewelry artists are no exception, taking inspiration wherever it is to be found:  from nature, from popular culture, from storyboards, photographs, painting and sculpture, travel, the history of art and the history of jewelry and decorative arts.  Aaron Faber Gallery has asked a select group of jewelry makers recognized for their style and innovation to share their inspirations in this group exhibition.”

“Referencing the Muse” will exhibit at Aaron Faber Gallery through October 31, 2015 and will subsequently be taken to Chicago for exhibition at the 2015 edition of SOFA Chicago.
