Minnesota’s Tech Dump Receives R2 Certification and Names New CEO

MINNEAPOLIS - Sept. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Minneapolis, Minn. -- Tech Dump, the Twin Cities’ only nonprofit social enterprise electronics recycler, is poised for more growth.

Tech Dump recently secured its Responsible Recycling or “R2” certification. R2 is the official recognition from Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI) for companies that responsibly handle e-waste.

R2 Certification assures customers that Tech Dump adheres to the highest possible environmental, health, safety and data security practices. There are only 480 R2 Certified recyclers in the United States.  IT managers, sustainability directors and consumers looking to minimize risk when disposing of old electronics seek out the certainty the SERI R2 Certification provides.

“The inspector had two separate three-day site visits auditing our processes and making sure our downstream vendors are in compliance with sustainable electronics recycling standards,” notes Amanda LaGrange, the newly appointed CEO of Tech Dump.

The R2 certification and LaGrange’s new role as CEO shift Tech Dump from a start-up nonprofit to a potential industry leader.

With a background in finance and operations at General Mills, LaGrange first became involved with Tech Dump as a board member. In 2013 she joined Tech Dump as the Marketing Director and in that position she has helped the company expand their operations to Saint Paul, co-found I (http://impactrecyclers.com/)mpact Recyclers, a nationwide e-waste recycling network, and double, from 20 to 40, the number of jobs they provide for people with barriers to employment. Founding CEO Tom McCullough will now be New Business Development Director, focusing on expanding the non-profits’ reach.
