STW Adds Brake Chopper Unit to Off Highway Hybrid Technology Range

NORCROSS, Ga. - Sept. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- STW Technic, a premier manufacturer of mobile controllers and measurement technology, today announced the addition of a Brake Chopper Unit to its portfolio of Off Highway Hybrid Technology Products.

The powerMELA-BC Brake Chopper Unit is a construction unit made of high-performance resistance elements with an integrated chopper unit. It was developed specifically for electronic brakes in mobile machines to protect against over-voltages. It can temporarily convert up to 500 kW of electrical energy into heat.

Some applications of the Brake Chopper Unit includes Diesel-electric travel drive, Diesel-electric hybrid drive (HEV), Battery-powered electric travel drive (BEV).

The powerMELA-BC Brake Chopper Unit is fully compatible with STW’s powerMELA e-machine and features integrated power electronics and a purely DC voltage connection.
