Special Tzu Chi USA Film Premiere Event as Part of Climate Week NYC 2015

Sept. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Tzu Chi USA is pleased to announce its participation in Climate Week NYC 2015, with FACES: A free event premiering 3 short documentaries about the people impacted by climate change. ​

​​If you care about climate change, reading statistics about global warming doesn’t compare to seeing real people on the frontlines, and hearing first hand accounts about how lives are being affected on a daily basis.

The Disappearing Frontier takes you to Shishmaref, where President Obama recently visited on his historic trip to Alaska: Here, the rising sea is swallowing the coastline and residents are becoming the nation’s first “climate refugees”. In Stung by Climate, we travel from the U.S. to the Caribbean and Europe, to tell the story of bees dying, in part due to drought and unpredictable seasons, and how their demise threatens the world’s food supply. Then on to the Grand Canyon in Keep it Grand, where despite outrage from activists, conservationists, and native communities, a mega tourist site that will have disastrous environmental consequences is being planned.

Join us for an evening dedicated to our precious Earth, and together let’s explore how we can take personal action to save the planet. Dr. Jason E. Smerdon from Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory will be the guest speaker at this special event, which also includes a reception, discussion, and audience Q & A with the talented and impassioned filmmakers Tzu Chi is proud to have on staff here in NYC.
