Unique new art classes to help teens and young adults with high functioning AutismBy: The Art Studio NY NEW YORK - Sept. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Starting October 1, 2015, The Art Studio NY will offer special acrylic painting classes designed for teens and young adults with Asperger’s Syndrome and high functioning Autism. Students are offered real-life training, experience and social opportunities at The Art Studio NY. Instructor Mitchell Siegel specially designed small group classes of four students maximum, individualized to each student’s strengths and learning styles to help build on the student’s skills, potential and personal growth.
In these classes students will: • Receive one-on-one instruction in acrylic painting based on their individual needs and learning style • Express themselves in a safe and encouraging environment free from judgement and intimidation • Explore the use of the “color wheel” and deepen color mixing knowledge • Explore self-expression through mixed-media techniques • Benefit from such health advantages as stress relief, relaxation, mental focus and clarity Instructor is an Autism advocate, parent and artist with years of experience Mitchell Siegel is Founder and Parent Advocate of The Autism Community of Hope. He is also the parent of an adult son with ASD and knows first-hand that navigating the complex world of ASD and making decisions about your child’s future can be a frustrating and daunting task. Mitchell is also a prolific painter of abstracts whose work has been on display at numerous group exhibitions. He has also mentored many young artists who went on to have successful careers of their own. Mitchell also volunteers at the YAI Arts Initiative helping artists develop their craft and is a member of the YAI Arts Advisory Committee.
