LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sept. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- State employees rallied in Frankfort recently for the annual Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign (KECC) kick-off held at the Kentucky Historical Society.

Chair of this year’s KECC Ambrose Wilson IV, secretary of the Public Protection Cabinet, defined at the Aug. 11 event the campaign vision and the importance of state employees in funding local charities.

“I am truly a believer that we all have a vision for ourselves and we have a vision for each other,” said Wilson. “We are all going to be successful. All going to get through life on our own but it doesn't always happen that way. I am firmly convinced that through no fault of our own, no faults of other people, that from time to time people need help.”

Last year state employees answered the call to service to help Kentuckians across the state through KECC donations that totaled over $1.2 million. This significant contribution was not lost on Wilson.

“I've had situations in the last two years where I needed help, never thought I would need help, and it is because of folks like KECC and what they do that helps us,” added Wilson.

During the kick-off event, Wilson announced this year’s KECC goal is $1.225 million.

“Our call to service,” said Wilson, “is to contribute wherever we can, to help make a difference,” adding, “I know we can do that.”

Officials said the annual campaign represents over 1,000 charitable programs through seven state-approved federated organizations: Christian Appalachian Project; Community Health Charities; KOSAIR Charities; March of Dimes; Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky; United Way of Kentucky; and WHAS Crusade for Children.  Additionally, officials noted that employees may pledge through payroll dedication thereby spreading gifts over the course of a year.

Secretary Wilson closed his remarks by recognizing the success of the KECC program and how Kentucky employees make a remarkable difference in the lives of their families, friends, and local communities.

“We are going to be successful and when successful we are going to help people that we don’t know, never will know, but I promise you that you will touch lives and you will make a difference,” he said.
