FPANJ's Leslie T. Beck Receives National Recognition as Heart of Financial Planning Award Recipient

FPANJ named Leslie T. Beck as its Heart of Financial Planning Award recipient in late 2014, and Beck has now received accolades on the national level.

Sept. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) announced the winners of its top awards on Friday, Sept. 4, to be presented at the FPA Annual Conference - BE Boston 2015, Sept. 26-28 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The 2015 Heart of Financial Planning Award recognizes individual professionals, financial planning firms, and organizations that engage in extraordinary work, contributing and giving back to the planning community and public through financial planning. Recipients embody the spirit of financial planning and also represent FPA's Core Values.

Beck, CFP®, MBA, has been a dynamic leader in FPANJ for years, serving on its Board of Directors, Public Relations Committee, and as president and chair of the chapter. She is principal of Compass Wealth Management, LLC in Wood Ridge, N.J., has been described by her peers as someone who has advocated for increased community, cooperation and relevancy within FPA and the financial planning profession. Her work with the state on the New Jersey Senior Designation Abuse Bill and with the New Jersey Financial Education in High School Bill have won her many accolades among her peers and public.

"I was advised when I first entered the profession to join FPA. I did so and never looked back," Beck said. "In my entire career I have never encountered such a group of sharing, supportive, and ethical professionals. I am proud to receive the award, and proud to be a member of FPA."

She also chaired the FPA's Alliance Forum, which is a group of the 12 largest FPA chapters that meet twice a year. The Alliance's core purpose is to provide a forum for Chapter Leaders with common interests and concerns. The Alliance also provides the opportunity to become more effective leaders and to leverage efforts through sharing of ideas, systems and goals, provide advice and support to each other, and joining on issues involving advocacy. Her work with the Alliance Forum has earned her the recognition of serving as a liaison, as well as bringing about a new sense of collaboration and synergy to the group, according to her colleagues.

President Bill Stratton cited Beck's ability to turn the Forum "from a meet and greet group into a true 'call-to-action' forum where ideas emerged, and an actionable plan was developed."

"She has a passion for financial planning, and is a detailed person who dives into things to make sure she gets it right, which truly advances the profession. She's selfless and dedicated and she carries that into her committee work as well," Stratton added.

Beck joins Sabrina Lowell, CFP® (FPA of San Francisco) in being recognized nationally for the Heart of Financial Planning Award.
