TRIVANDRUM, India - Sept. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Bangalore, September 09, 2015: IBS won the ‘Testing Project of the Year 2015’ award at the "Conference on Next Generation Testing 2015" held in Bangalore, India recently. IBS won the award for providing Independent Testing, both functional and non-functional, for Lufthansa Cargo’s IT transformation initiative, named iCAP.

India Testing Awards recognizes those organizations and practitioners that have stepped away from legacy tools and processes to create Testing programs that define the future of IT Software Development, services and support.

The selection for awards was moderated and audited by KPMG. Other companies nominated for various awards included Philips, Manhattan Associates, Symantec, Huawei Technologies and UNISYS. The jury included representatives from KPMG, Deutsche Bank, and IBM, and industry leaders like the President of ISTQB (The International Software Testing Qualifications Board).

iCAP, the IT transformation initiative, is a key component of Lufthansa Cargo’s 2020 strategy. It replaces several crucial business IT systems with a single modern platform that integrates all participants of its transport ecosystem. This will provide intelligent support for all core processes and seamless information flow, ensuring business agility. It will also serve as a catalyst for future innovations. With over 4,500 users worldwide in its 300 destinations spread over 100 countries, iCAP supports the global cargo operations of the airline. This new platform will enable Lufthansa to push the envelope on industry initiatives such as e-Freight adoption and digitization of business.

The winning iCAP Testing project involved testing of a large enterprise wide cargo management system along with hundreds of interfaces and an environment involving a large number of other systems. Successful testing required meticulous planning, disciplined timely completion of activities, effective data migration and data management, along with execution of tens of thousands of test cases - while staying flexible and responsive to the changing operational realities on the ground and doing everything in the context of the business, and not as a purely technical exercise.

Akshay Shrivastava, Senior Vice President & Global Head of IBS’ Services Business says, “Our Independent Verification and Validation team has done a phenomenal job in ensuring that iCAP is a global success at Lufthansa Cargo. It is heartening to see those efforts being recognized by industry leaders. Lufthansa Cargo is an innovative, Tier 1 global cargo provider, and the iCAP program is possibly the largest and the most challenging IT transformation initiative in the air cargo industry. This extraordinary success would not have been possible without some exceptional collaboration between Lufthansa Cargo and IBS teams as well as the outstanding commitment and professionalism displayed by everyone involved.”

More than 80 IBS customers in the global Travel, Transportation & Logistics industry benefit from IBS’ IV&V Practice. It prides itself in the value that it creates for its customers through extensive testing, both functional and non-functional, while ensuring time and cost savings through its domain expertise and use of existing vast repository of relevant test cases, testing frameworks and state of the art smart tools.
