Encore Presentation: Re-Engineering the Village (R.E.V.) - An Authentic Discussion About Education

At the center of the Village’s demise is a faulty belief system and the incoherent rationalization that breaking away from outdated rules and unsubstantiated assumptions is wrong. The truth is that unless we revolutionize our thinking and change the rules, the decline we are now witnessing in societal structures such as education will pale in comparison to the degeneration on the horizon. If you care about the Village and education, you don't want to miss this workshop.

Change The World by Re-Engineering The Village
INDIANAPOLIS - Sept. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Despite spending more than all other nations – $621 billion per year for an average of $12,401 per public school student – America’s educational system continues to rank amongst the worst in the world.  Per the latest PISA survey (OECD Programme for International Student Assessment), America ranks 36th in mathematics, 28th in science and 24th in reading.

Not only is America falling behind other nations academically, a growing number of African American students are graduating from high school without being proficient in English, mathematics, reading and science. In fact according to the 2013 ACT findings, only 5 (that’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) percent of African American high school students met all four of ACT’s college-readiness benchmarks and an alarming 62 percent of African American graduates met none (as in zero) of the benchmarks.

Only days ago, the College Board released the SAT scores and the results were equally bleak. The overall scores of all American children are the lowest they've been since the SAT test was redesigned a decade ago. The average math score was the lowest since 1999 (511 out of 800). Adding insult to injury, the average reading score was the lowest since 1972 (495 out of 800).

Today’s K-12 students live in an age of expansive creativity, brilliant innovation, and instantaneous revolutionary technologies. For the fortunate few who are prepared for these exceptionally globalized and technologically sophisticated times this era is referenced with one single word – ‘disruption’. Unfortunately for most African American students, as far as education is concerned, ‘disruption’ continues to be deferred in favor of decayed and obsolete educational processes, methods and procedures.

The visionaries and “out of the box” thinkers know that disruptive creativity and innovation are keys to obliterating the statistical narrative that too often depict African American students as academically inept and behaviorally challenged. In order to boost educational outcomes and change the trajectory of the African American community, we must Re-Engineer the Village.

Come join us on Sunday, September 20, 2015 @ 3:00 pm. to learn why parents must break away from the antiquated guidelines about how we educate and prepare children. Come see first-hand why the “tried and true” educational processes are actually the “tired and through”. Hear from a parent who used methodologies like “Backward Design” and “Reverse Engineering” to obliterate every single academic and social stereotype associated with African American students.

If you are a parent: new or old; an expecting parent; or a village member who simply cares for and about children, you can ill-afford to miss this FREE workshop. Not only will you learn why we must change but you will be introduced to how we are going to re-engineer the village using the P.I.L.O.T. program.

You can RSVP and/or learn more about this event at Eventbrite.
