Trends in the Life Science Industry- Choosing from the myriads of Career Paths

NEW DELHI - Sept. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Life Science Industry in India is growing at a rate of 25-30% and continues to be an engine for job creation. Every year around 20,000 candidates enter the job market with a graduate/post graduate degree. The industry generates multiple job roles across multiple disciplines, but the value proposition of pharmaceutical and healthcare industry careers is not effectively communicated, creating a discrepancy of career opportunity awareness and employer needs.

James Lind Institute took an initiative to organize a unique opportunity for the students and professionals in healthcare industry to participate in a Workshop on “Growth of Life Sciences Industry - Opportunities in Translational Medicine, Pharmacovigilance and Allied Clinical Research Sectors” which would talk about the issues and advances in the industry along with career opportunities in the relevant field. This event will take place on Friday, the 18^th of September 2015 from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm at India’s biggest festival PULSE at AIIMS campus, New Delhi INDIA.

“The current scenario of pharmaceutical and healthcare industry is expanding new horizons giving an emphasis on innovation and demand for new and improved healthcare products. This is creating a gap between the students and trained professionals to adapt to this transformation. There is a need to bridge this gap and enlighten the students with thorough understanding of working integration in the healthcare industry and what career opportunities can be pursued in the life science sector,” said Dr. Abdul Wahid, James Lind Institute’s Managing Director.

The workshop aims to deliver an understanding of current global drug development enterprise and the opportunities available in the life science industry and research sectors for both students and trained professionals from the healthcare industry. There will be an introductory session of ‘Good Clinical Practices’ (GCP) to gain knowledge over the crucial part required conducting human research.
