Upcoming Library System Changes

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Sept. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The Waukesha County Federated Library System is undergoing a change.  It will be merging with Jefferson County to create a library system with both counties in 2016.  After months of study and discussion, both counties approved the merger and the plans are well underway for a smooth transition for the libraries into the library system. The libraries of Jefferson County will be joining the Waukesha County libraries in the CAFÉ catalog. The migration process has already begun with an expected “go-live” date in early December.  After the libraries are added to CAFÉ, the catalog will grow to 2.3 million items.  “There will be some “offline” time for all of the libraries in early December while we merge the records into one larger database.  We are working hard to minimize the disruption and keep the project on its timeline,” reported Connie Meyer, Director of the Waukesha County Federated Library System.  “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we manage this change.  Ultimately, we know that the increased access to resources will be worth the short disruption.”

As a result of this upcoming change, the Waukesha County Federated Library System board selected Bridges Library System to be the new library system name at their August meeting.  “To us the word conveys connections and support, which describes what we do for our libraries…and also describes what our libraries do within their own communities, connecting people to resources and providing support for lifelong learning,” concluded Meyer.

For more information, visit the library system’s website at:  www.wcfls.org.  The library will be transitioning to its new name and website address in the coming weeks.
