BOSTON - Sept. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- **updated Press Release**

Boston, MA, September 8, 2015 – The Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE), a nationally-known nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women in business, today announced Dr. Helen Greiner, co-founder of iRobot, best known for the Roomba™ autonomous vacuum cleaner, will speak at the CWE Women Business Leaders Conference 2015, taking place Thursday-Friday, October 22-23 at the Sheraton Hotel in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Hundreds of business professionals will converge at New England’s premier educational and networking event for women business leaders and supplier diversity professionals.  This year's conference theme is "Paths to Possibilities," featuring interactive workshops and networking opportunities with Fortune 500 corporations, women business leaders, and community advocates who support women’s economic empowerment in New England.  The event will also include the annual CWE Awards Luncheon where business and community leaders will be recognized for their achievements in promoting and furthering the success of women in business in New England.  In addition, the event will feature the finals of the 2015 CWE Women-Owned Business Challenge, a business plan competition for women business leaders.

Greiner, known for both innovation and for business strategy in the field of robotics, co-founded iRobot  in 1990, and served as President until 2004, and Chairman until 2008. During her tenure, Greiner guided iRobot into its position as a global leader with the release of the Roomba, the PackBot™, and SUGV Military Robots. She built a culture of practical innovation and delivery that led to the deployment of over 6,000 PackBots with our troops. In addition, Greiner led iRobot’s financing efforts, raising $35M in venture capital for a $75M initial public offering. Greiner holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in computer science, both from MIT. Ms. Greiner is now Founder and CEO of CyPhy Works, which is developing and delivering drones.

"I wish I had more mentors and advisors when I was starting out,” Greiner states. “I look forward to sharing the benefit of my own experience with other women in business at the CWE conference.”

“Helen’s path to success was not without its challenges. Conference attendees will learn from her that there is no shame in failing; that it is a valuable part of the experience. It’s all about learning from your failure and bouncing back – which Helen successfully did,” said Susan Rittscher, President and CEO of the Center for Women & Enterprise.
