Sonoma County, thumbprint cellars’ third annual ‘leave your mark’ awareness and fundraising ca

HEALDSBURG, Calif. - Sept. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- ‘Leave Your Mark’ is thumbprint cellars’ twelve-week community fundraising and awareness campaign. The campaign kicks off in September with a salute to our educators, followed by October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, and continuing in November with awareness and fundraising for the Movember Foundation and Redwood Empire Food Bank.

“I leave my thumbprint on every bottle of wine I craft and I think it’s just as important we leave a positive mark on the community,” said thumbprint cellars owner/winemaker Scott Lindstrom-Dake. The winery is passionate about supporting and strengthening their community calling itself, ‘a small winery with a big heart’.  “We make donations all year long, but the ‘Leave Your Mark’ campaign focuses on a series of causes over three months,” said Lindstrom-Dake.

In September thumbprint cellars will honor educators by waiving regular tasting fees and offering 10% off purchases of current release wines.   “Our educators are often the unsung heroes of our community and we wanted to salute them and all they do for our children,” said Lindstrom-Dake.

During the month of October thumbprint cellars will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research by selling awareness bracelets and collecting monetary donations, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research fund at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital Center. The ‘Leave Your Mark’ campaign will continue in November with ‘Movember,’ an international month of fundraising and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.  “During the month of November men worldwide grow mustaches and use their facial hair as conversation starters to raise awareness and money,” said Lindstrom-Dake. “In November, our winery team sports mustaches and puts on a comedy fundraiser.”

“During the year, thumbprint hosts a monthly series of comedy evenings,” said Carla Jeffries, General Manager for thumbprint cellars.  “Last November we took the show out of the tasting room and into the Raven Performing Arts Theater, creating a Movember comedy fundraiser, ‘Laughing Matters.’ This show raised over $5500 for the Foundation.”

The second annual Laughing Matters takes place on Friday, November 13th at the Raven Performing Arts Theater in Healdsburg. Doors open at 7pm. The event is hosted by thumbprint cellars and local comedian/comedy promoter, Steve Ausburne of Steve Ausburne Productions. The event will feature talented Bay Area comedians headlined by Sammy O’Beid, a semi-finalist on this year’s Last Comic Standing. General Admission tickets for ‘Laughing Matters’ are $25, plus processing fees. VIP Tickets are $55, plus processing fees and include premium seating at the show and a wine and cheese reception before the show at thumbprint cellars’ downtown Healdsburg tasting room. More information and tickets for the ‘Laughing Matters’ comedy show are available at the winery’s website, www.thumbprintcellars.com.
