MASHANTUCKET, Conn. - Sept. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Comix at Foxwoods proudly presents the semi-finals of its perennial stand-up competition, "Last Comix Standing," which begins Sunday, September 13 at 8:00 p.m. and showcases some of the top comedic talent throughout the Northeast taking center stage with an eye on the prize: the Last Comix Standing title.

The three-month competition began on July 26 with 120 of the region's funniest comedians. The competition has been chopped to 42 quarter-finalists and now 12 semi-finalists who will be judged for their on-stage presence, originality, and crowd reaction.

Only three comics (one from each semi-finalist group) will make it to the final round on Sunday, October 4 for a head-to-head face-off that will feature 25-minute sets from each performer. The winner will take home $1,500, a week’s worth of shows including headline spots and opening for a national headliner at Comix at Foxwoods, a photo on the Comix Wall of Fame and the title "Last Comix Standing."

This year's semi-finalists and competition performance dates include:

Sunday, September 13: Drew Dunn (Nashua, NH), Roman Pierce (Franklin, MA), Tom Stewart (Cranston, RI) and Pat Oates (Ansonia, CT)

Sunday, September 20: Corey Manning (Norwood, MA), Justin Hoff (Medford, MA), Jarwan Nelson (Cortland, NY) and James Dorsey (Auburn, MA)

Sunday, September 27: Brian Plumb (Longmeadow, MA), Brian Herberger (Buffalo, NY), Matt Barry (Hudson, NH) and Kenny Garcia (New York, NY)

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10-$30, and are available online at www.comixatfoxwoods.com; by calling the Foxwoods Box Office at 800-200-2882; or in person at the Comix, Fox Theater or Grand Theater Box Offices. Please contact the Comix Comedy Club at 860-312-5050 for additional information or with questions regarding group sales or private parties.

Drew Dunn (Nashua, NH): Drew is a comic from NH that performs all over Boston and greater New England. His unique use of voices while telling stories of life in a big family and experiences keep audiences laughing and wanting more!

Pat Oates (Ansonia, CT):  Born and raised in CT, Pat Oates has unique and hilarious outlook on life. His quick wit and blunt story telling has made him a crowd favorite all over New England.

Roman Pierce (Franklin, MA): Roman won the stand-up comedy competition at the 2009 Rhode Island Comedy Festival. He has been featured on Fox, MYTV, and NBC's Last Comic Standing: Too Hot for Primetime.

Tom Stewart (Cranston, RI): After 20 years of working on radio and television, Tom has taken his comedic voice to the stage and quickly become one of New England's hardest working comedians.

Corey Manning (Norwood, MA): Take a seat and put you drinks/food in location where you're less likely to knock them over, because as soon as Corey Manning descends upon the stage... It's on!!!

Jarwan Nelson (Medford, MA): When not on a stage having the time of his life, Jarwan can be found drinking protein. During pre and post protein drinking, Jarwan is most likely taping a comedic sketch for his weekly social media comedy show Hood Classy or perhaps running wind sprints in hopes of being fast enough to one day catch his dreams.

James Dorsey (Auburn, MA): James’ performance on stage has been described as “Flawless, smooth and original. A born professional.” James has shared the stage with Patrice O’Neal, Gilbert Gottfried, Billy Gardell, Lenny Clarke, Gary Gullman, Jimmy Dunn, Don Gavin, Steve Sweeney, Bryan Callen and Steven Wright.

Justin Hoff (Medford, MA): Justin Hoff is quickly becoming a staple in the Boston comedy scene. Winner of the 2014 "Funniest New Comic on the East Coast" contest at Mohegan Sun.

Brian Plumb (Longmeadow, MA): Brian Plumb's confrontational and abrasive style has made him a favorite in clubs across the northeast.

Brian Herberger (Buffalo, NY): Drawing on his checkered past, his 7 years working as a middle school teacher, and embarrassing escapades on the dating scene, Brian brings his personal, relatable experiences to the stage.

Matt Barry (Hudson, NY): Matt Barry is one of New England’s fastest rising stars in comedy. A mischievous, post-grad stoner, Matt’s act centers around a transition into adulthood he isn’t ready to make.

Kenny Garcia (New York, NY): Growing up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan when it was still considered a tough place to live, Kenny used his humor to navigate his way through childhood. A natural storyteller, he will take you on a fun ride with stories of raising a little girl and some of life's unimportant things.
