Early Stage Careers Turns College Students & Grads Into Young Working Professionals

Lesley Mitler & Jill Tipograph Offer Years of Expertise in Career & Youth Development

NEW YORK - Sept. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, NY (September 1, 2015) Early Stage Careers (ESC), a Manhattan based new venture for career and youth development, provides an in-depth service to help students and recent grads bridge the gap between college and the job market.  Experts Lesley Mitler and Jill Tipograph, working with a domestic and global clientele, have built a valuable, proven, proprietary program to help college students get meaningful internships, and for recent grads to successfully launch their careers in jobs that utilize their college degree.

Jill’s extensive experience working with parents and students, combined with Lesley’s deep knowledge of corporate recruiting and career coaching, translates into a powerful partnership; part academic advisor, part career counselor, and part coach. Together, they are passionate about helping aspiring young professionals successfully navigate the complex college internship process, as well as coach the Gen Z  through career launch and millennials through job transition.

“College students and new/recent graduates are our sole focus.  This allows us to fully concentrate on the successful strategies they need to enter today’s competitive job market. ” said Lesley Mitler, co-founder, ESC.  “We teach our clients the necessary tools and approach to get key internships and full time employment, which will help build experience and relevant skills, enhancing their future marketability.”

Many of today’s students and grads are not adequately prepared for the current job marketplace. At this pivotal juncture, we expect them to figure out how to launch a career—something they have no experience doing. They lack the quality communication skills and real work experience demanded.  School and college provide an educational foundation; but even at the most elite universities, career centers are underfunded, understaffed, and tend to use a one-size-fits-all approach, which rarely works for anyone. And, since 70% of all jobs are found through networking, the ESC team teaches clients how to use social media to engage their personal and professional networks to identify and create opportunities, and become ninja networkers. Their strategic advice is applicable to today’s technology and social media driven marketplace.

ESC’s customized process helps students and recent graduates with everything from:

• aligning college major and coursework with career exploration

• identifying extracurricular activities and leadership experiences

• connecting passions with career tracks

• creating necessary career assets to best position them for an internship/job

• coaching intensively to prepare for job interviews and networking opportunities

• researching the right fit internship and job prospects

Hallmark features of the ESC program include: staying with a student through the first year of employment for continued guidance; and ensuring parents are updated and educated about their student’s progress and today’s marketplace for initial careers. The employment process is far different than it was years ago.

“We proactively manage every step of the internship and job search process, and anticipate/obviate obstacles that may impede this,” said Jill Tipograph, co-founder, ESC.  “A lot of factors go into the hunt and students need to be armed with as much information and strategy as possible.  These are not one time skills; they are skills that have no expiration and will be used in the job and for every job search they pursue throughout their careers.”

Founders Lesley Mitler and Jill Tipograph respectively each have 20+ years of experience guiding families, parents and students through the many dilemmas they face. Lesley spent many years as a successful executive recruiter before shifting her focus in 2009 to helping recent college graduates transition into careers. She also has a background in finance.  Jill has been a nationally recognized youth expert and educational consultant for more than 20 years.  She has a corporate background in marketing and advertising.   Jill knows being able to offer clients post college guidance in early careers is the next most important phase of life. Both are parents of millennials who have successfully navigated both the internship and career launch process first hand.
