SAN MATEO, Calif. - Aug. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- "Over Labor Day weekend, almost every local and national political candidate is going to be hitting the stump in almost every city and town across America, and a lot of the subjects they are going to be talking about will be about jobs, the economy, the state of manufacturing in America and the state of manufacturing in the areas in which they are running...and one of the biggest topics they will probably be talking about will be income inequality and the fact that the rich have been getting richer and the middle class and the poor have been getting clobbered.

They might also talk about some of the pressing social issues, but their Labor Day politicking will probably concentrate more on things like jobs, manufacturing and the economy rather than on any controversial social issues," according to Robert Barrows, President of R.M. Barrows Advertising & Public Relations in San Mateo, California.

Along the lines of business, manufacturing, jobs and the economy, Barrows is also the author of a poem about manufacturing called "It used to be Made in America," and he is also the co-author of some songs about money and politics called "Big Bucks" and "Run For Office." Barrows also ran for office. He ran for Congress in the Democratic primaries in the 12th Congressional District in California in 2006 and in 2008. He lost both times.

The poem "It used to be Made in America" has been published in several places and you can also see the poem online at www.itusedtobemadeinamerica.com.

The songs "Big Bucks" and "Run For Office" both got some airplay and you can hear free clips of the songs at www.barrows.com/music.html. There is also a link on that page where you can download the songs for 99 cents each on iTunes.

"When the politicians start talking about jobs and the economy, you are likely to hear a lot of boasting about how they are the one who can help create more business in America, but you are unlikely to hear a lot of immediate and practical solutions as to how they can help create a lot of new business and a lot of better paying jobs, according to Barrows. "A lot of the solutions that a lot of politicians have been talking about like tax incentives and 'advanced manufacturing centers' may take a very long time to work" says Barrows.

"The real power to reverse the manufacturing decline a lot more quickly is not in the hands of Congress nor in the fine print of various tax codes and incentives...the real power to increase the amount of manufacturing in America is in the hands of the people right now...and it's called "Buy American!" says Barrows.

"Once consumers start boycotting products and brands that are not made in America, and once consumers start 'demanding' that American manufacturers and retailers start making more of their manufacturing and purchasing decisions to offer more goods that are made in America, you will see how quickly the tide will turn to manufacturing it here in America," says Barrows.

Barrows hopes to be able to develop the poem and the website for "It used to be Made in America" into a variety of projects that could help bring more attention to the need to start making more things here in America. He hopes to be able to develop the poem into some country and hip-hop songs and some television and film type documentary projects about the state of manufacturing and the efforts to revive manufacturing in America.

He also hopes to be able to develop the website into a series of moneymaking directories about manufacturing, jobs, products, requests for proposals and sources of funding for projects and products that would be made in America. The directories would be on a companion website called www.madeinusa.us.com.

When you start hearing all the Labor Day stump speeches about money and business and 'Why you should vote for me,'and when you try putting everything into perspective, two things that you can use to help you cope with all of the political platitudes and attitudes are some songs about money and politics called "Big Bucks" and "Run For Office" that Barrows co-wrote with a musician named Gary Warren, of Sacramento, California. "Big Bucks" is a song about the hopes of pulling down big money. "Run For Office" is not exactly a song that politicians will be using as their campaign theme song," says Barrows. "The people will love this song, politicians will hate it." "Whenever politicians start talking about income inequality (after attending a $50,000 a plate fundraising dinner), and whenever they talk about why they are the best candidate for the job, at least you can vent some of your frustrations about money and politics with some songs called "Big Bucks" and "Run For Office," says Barrows.

"And whenever you hear about yet another company moving their manufacturing to another country, and whenever you hear about a company doing an inversion to help them lower their taxes in America, and whenever you take a look at the state of manufacturing in America and the state of manufacturing in the area in which you live, please feel free to refer to all or parts of "It used to be Made in America" in any stories you may be doing," says Barrows.
