WHITING, Ind. - Aug. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Over the past several years, Locals 599, 1005 and 1485 of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) have set up scaffolding for the Whiting Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce during the annual Pierogi Fest.

This year, seven carpenters volunteered time and skills to make the Pierogi Fest a success. The three-day festival, held every July in Whiting, draws in people from all over the region for activities such as dancing the polka to live bands, trying dozens of varieties of pierogis and strolling through arts and crafts vendor booths.

“This particular project is one that we look forward to every year,” said Dan Moran of the IKORCC. “We dedicate hundreds - if not thousands - of hours to volunteer projects throughout the year, and we love working on projects that so many people can enjoy. It makes what we do really rewarding, and we’re honored to have a longstanding relationship with the Whiting Robertsdale Chamber and give back in a way that shows our support for the local business community.”

“More than 300,000 people attended Pierogi Fest this year,” commented Tom Dabertin, Chairmen of the Pierogi Fest. “The festival is regularly featured on national television, and this year was on the front page article in the Wall Street Journal. The first thing attendees see are huge archways welcoming them to Pierogi Fest, and those archways would not be possible without the help and support of the IKORCC. The union has been a loyal partner in the set up and take down of our festival, and I cannot say enough to express our appreciation for their support.”
