CHARLESTON, S.C. - Aug. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Dr. Stephanie Singleton of The Fertility Center of Charleston was recently quoted in a Lowcountry Parent article about families suffering from infertility.  Titled "Facing infertility: Couples seek support, expert advice", Dr. Singleton was one of the experts the auther reached out to and she addressed fertility issues couples often experience.  Here is an excerpt from the article:

"Demand for fertility services has increased in recent years for a variety of reasons.  For one, more women are putting off starting a family to focus on their careers, said Dr. Stephanie Singleton, a fertility specialist with The Fertility Center of Charleston.

Women of “advanced maternal age,” those 35 and older, often have a harder time conceiving and face more pregnancy risks than their younger counterparts, medical experts say. But in modern society, the number of “mature parents” continues to grow.

Singleton is also seeing an influx of couples in second marriages hoping to add to their families.

In general, more people are seeking out fertility assistance thanks to a growing understanding and acceptance of the field, said Singleton, a board-certified female reproductive endocrinologist.

“Now, most people know someone who has needed assistance (conceiving a child),” she said. “People are becoming more open about using our services.”

For those who are still wary of making an appointment with a fertility specialist, Singleton notes that the practice can help couples manage the emotional and financial stress that come with infertility struggles.  “Hopefully, they can let go of some of their (stress) and put the burden on us,” she said.

The practice also keeps a financial counselor on staff to help patients review insurance coverage and costs, so they can make an informed decision about treatment.""
