Follow on Google News | Philadelphia Debut of Prison Drama "V to X"There are 1.5 Million black men missing from American homes. In GoKash Productions' world premiere of the theatrical prison drama "V to X" (5 to 10), playwright Kash Goins examines who and where they are.
“V to X”, the latest in a 10-play series on the contemporary African American experience, is written and directed by South Philly native and Lincoln University graduate, Kash Goins. “V to X” is the prequel to Goins’ Award-Winning “VI Degrees” (Best Play, NYC Downtown Urban Theatre Festival, 2009). Five years in conception, “V to X” draws inspiration from harrowing disproportionate rates of young black male incarceration, the big business of privatized prisons and the experience of Khalief Browder, who’s diminished mental state due to three years of abusive Rikers Island incarceration, without formal charges, drove him to suicide this June. The show opens Friday, October 2, 2015 and presents Thursdays thru Sundays, closing October 25th, 2015. Thursday – Saturday shows present at 8pm. Sunday 10/4 is 6pm, and all other Sundays are 3pm at The Skybox at The Adrienne, 2030 Sansom St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
