Unique One-Day Summer Camp Brings Seniors and Kids Together to Play at Atlantic Shores

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Aug. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Summer Camp is not just for kids anymore, as the third annual Atlantic Shores Daycamp with Rainbow Station proved. This popular, free annual event for the young and the young at heart paired 25 children, age 10-13 from Rainbow Station of Virginia Beach, and 15 residents age 60 and up from Atlantic Shores Retirement Community for a day of intergenerational summer fun.

Children were paired up with residents to form three separate teams – each choosing their own team name and theme for the day. Teams headed out onto Atlantic Shores’ 100-acre campus to play corn hole and shuffleboard, enjoy swimming and water games in the pool, and do craft projects including making personalized Tie-Dye T shirts.

Following a fun “camp lunch,” each group was taught special dance moves by Marquita Bianca, one of Hampton Roads’ most renowned dance instructors. The afternoon ended with an energetic group dance performance incorporating all three teams of all-ages dancers.
