Transcription Outsourcing Participates in Denver Workforce Development Training Subsidy Program

DENVER - Aug. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Colorado-based transcription company Transcription Outsourcing, LLC (http://www.transcriptionoutsourcing.net/) is participating in the Denver Office of Economic Development’s (https://www.denvergov.org/oed) (OED)  Workforce Development (https://www.denvergov.org/oed/DenverOfficeofEconomicDevelopment/JobsEmployers/tabid/435763/Default.aspx)  Training Subsidy program to help grow Denver’s skilled workforce through  On-The-Job training (OJT). The OED program connects job seekers with employers who are willing to help individuals develop skills and work ethics needed for a specific position and place of business. Businesses train participating employees for a six month period and then agree to retain the employee in a full time capacity upon successful completion of the program.

Transcription Outsourcing works with the OED to find candidates who are interested in learning the skills required for fast and accurate transcription, providing them the opportunity to pursue a career in the field.

The OED Workforce Development Training Subsidy program was created to help the long-term unemployed access the kind of training and skill-building that will improve their long-term job prospects as well as to reduce the burden of employee recruitment and additional costs on participating business’ payroll.

“Although about 45 percent of the long-term unemployed in Colorado hold a bachelor’s degree, many jobs, such as transcription work, require additional training, skill development, or course certificates,” stated Ben Walker, CEO of Transcription Outsourcing. “Often a long-term unemployed individual does not have the resources to complete additional training, thus perpetuating their status.”

In October 2014, a $6.2 million ‘Ready to Work Partnership’ Workforce Development Grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor to the Denver OED to benefit 593 unemployed individuals along Colorado’s Front Range and Western Slope. The Training Subsidy program is one beneficiary of this grant and utilizes funds to partially subsidize salaries of individuals during their six month training period.

“I have found the OED’s program to be very beneficial for both me, the employer, and for my employees who have successfully completed the program,” stated Walker. “The goal of the Training Subsidy program is to provide individuals with training opportunities that allow them to become self-sufficient by providing permanent work, new skills training, and a livable salary. Learning how to accurately transcribe documents will furnish many employment opportunities for these individuals down the road as it is a very specific and sought-after skill.”

Candidates for the OJT program must go through a screening program with the OED to ensure they are eligible for the program and can meet basic requirements of the job. Companies who work with OED candidates utilize a standard application and interview process to ensure the job is a good fit for both parties.
