Dutch Farmers demonstrate in Weststellingwerf

A whole Dutch countryside village found an innovative way to drive attention to the importance of its agricultural sector.

MIDDELBURG, Netherlands - Aug. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Although farmers demonstrating for their rights are often associated with strikes and blocking highways, the workers of this small village in the Dutch countryside have thought of a much better way to drive the attention on the importance of their jobs.
The agricultural sector in this region is at the highest levels thanks to an innovative and sustainable approach to nature. Cows sleeping on water beds and calves and piglets held in sheds with heated floors are, indeed, just some of the advanced technologies deployed by farmers of this area to ensure the optimum comfort for the animals and the best quality for consumers.

For this reason local associations have found a rather original way to highlight the value and the importance of such an advanced agricultural sector.

In cooperation with izi.TRAVEL, they have developed an audio guided bike ride, which promotes the unique local agrarian culture to residents and tourists. Starting from an existing cycling route of about 30km, these organisations have started collecting stories about the businesses and attractions that populate the area, as well as interviews to the farmers who work on those lands.

To realise this ambitious project they have relied on the free technology offered by izi.TRAVEL, the storytelling platform. Without any cost, they have been able to create a full multimedia tour enriched with audio stories, videos, maps, pictures and texts, available on the web and on all smartphones.

Locals as well as tourists will now have the chance to immerse themselves in the real life of this little village in the Netherlands through stories played directly along the way. Just by downloading the izi.TRAVEL app and the cycling tour, they can enjoy one of the most beautiful natural part of the country, while deeply understanding the passion and the hard work that people who live in these lands put in their everyday activities.

The project, supported by agricultural and tourist associations as well as top brands like Rabobank and Campina, has found in izi.TRAVEL one of its most active promoters. “This project represent the essence of what we do at izi,TRAVEL: bringing real stories to people” - explains Alex Tourski CEO of the company - “And we are excited and honoured to be the

connection point between the farmers, who put so much effort in making their job fair and sustainable and nearly 900k users of our app, who will enjoy these stories on their smartphones for free”.

The digital bicycle route will be officially launched this Friday, August 28th at the presence of all the companies and associations who have contributed to realise it.
