So far India did not discover a single drug, whereas India is spending Billons of dollars on Drugs Research?

Medicine is a hypothetical subject, it is like 40% good and 60% bad, not very accurate like Engineering science.

Do you know, 60 percent of our health problems could be prevented with food, supplements and life style?

We spend so much money on emergency health care system when we get sick? Everything is profit making for business people? Hospitals are the most expensive 5 stars hotels in the world?

Today 40 percent Ayurvedic modernized health supplements like Cucumin (from Turmeric), Bitter Melon, Ashwagandha, Amla, Triphala, fenugreek (Testofen) and so much available in Health food stores, supermarket in USA. Once Ayurveda is modernized, it becomes western medicine. Everyone must know it. Both Allopathic and Ayurvedic medicine are based on molecules and compound. Does Government of India know this one?

India Government is responsible for promoting, introducing Ayurvedic medicine and Science to the Global market. Ayurvedic Vaidyas and graduates are not responsible at all.

How may of you know Psyllium Husk, Metamucil, packaged by Proctor and Gamble (O&G) is a Ayurvdic product called Isabgul?

Many Western Medicine have derived from Ayurvedic crude medicinal plants, including Dopamine, Digitalis, Morphine and much more.

Ayurvedic Products could be more active and effective when ingredients are in molecular, standardized materials and guaranteed with no heavy metals and free from microbial contamination. Ayurvedic food supplements work well for many health conditions - as long as the materials have proper analytical proof and are free from microbial and elemental contamination. Those must be analyzed, verified, tested, and confirmed on chromatographic sophisticated equipment. Validities are not always established, which is lacking in Ayurvedic medicine. To establish recognition in the worldwide market - especially in the USA and Europe, analytical testing methods must be confirmed.

Ayurvedic scientists would like to put an emphasis on tests of elemental analysis which is very essential. There is no question Ayurvedic medicine works well. However, analytical analysis authenticity are not sufficient to convince International scientific community and consumers.

Elemental tests like mercury, sulphur, lead, cadmium, and arsenic are not tested or validated properly with ICPMS. Ayurvedic preparatory products (herbals blended with bhasmas) are lacking the heavy metal test validation. This presents a big legal issue in the USA and Europe. The Government of India must strictly regulate those rules and laws. The department of AYUSH must look into this issue on testing methodology and confirmation for consumers satisfaction as well as exporting Ayurvedic products to western countries.

Another important matter - Ayurvedic products must be standardized, either those from plant extracts, or those made from metals (Bhasmas or Rasas). Either powder or extracted materials, sulfates made from metals like iron, gold etc, all ayurvedic products are based molecules. Therefore, the dose (in Mg or MCG) must be listed on the label to align with the modern drugs or health product labels in the USA.

When Ayurvedic labels indicate 'take a spoonful' of their product, what exactly is 'a spoonful'? It could be interpreted as a teaspoon, tablespoon or even a cooking spoon? A more precise unit of measure should indicate the dosage in milligrams or grams (i.e. 500mg, 1000mg, 10gm, 50gm).

Analytical analysis authenticity are not sufficient to convince the International scientific community and consumers in Europe, America, Australia or in other advanced countries. This poses a huge problem and could be detrimental for issues involving the promotion, introduction, marketing, and consumption of Ayurvedic products as well as to the Ayurvedic Science to foreign countries.

Many Universities in India offer medical degrees in Rasa Shastra (use of Metals in Ayurvedic medicine), yet most of the Post Graduate Departments do not have any of the Chromatographic equipment in their labs. How are students awarded with a MD or PhD, based solely on their studies and thesis papers? The same issue applies with Dravya (Graduates in Medicinal plants & Pharmacognosy). This is another subject where Universities in India offer MD and PhD, while lacking in the experience of using critical equipment, such as HPLC, LCMS, GCMS or Fluorescent microscope etc. Those Ayurvedic degrees have no value in Industrial applications and the Government of India and CCIM (Central Council of Indian Medicine) must look into those matters in their curriculum for MD. and PhD work in Rasa Shastra and Dravya Vigyan or Dravyaguna. I question how Research institutes who hire MD & Phd graduates (who lack the practical experience of working on critical equipment in their fields of study), adequately promote the benefits of Ayurvedic medicine to the Western World.

To be competitive with modern medicine and the traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic drugs need to have more research and development and analytical work on traditional Ayurvedic products.
